As transportation infrastructure gets smarter over the next couple of decades, autonomous and connected vehicles will play an integral role in increasing safety and reducing congestion.

Presenter:  Richard Biter, Assistant Secretary, Intermodal Systems Development Department of Transportation

Richard Biter is the Assistant Secretary of Intermodal Systems Development for the Florida Department of Transportation. He also serves as Vice-Chair of AASHTO’s (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) Special Committee on Intermodal Transportation and Economic Expansion.

Richard Biter served as a Principal of a Florida-based transportation consulting firm and was also a former Acting Associate Deputy Secretary and Director of the Office of lntermodalism at the U.S. Department of Transportation. He brings with him over 30 years of transportation program and policy making experience in the private and federal government transportation sectors.

Richard Biter has a significant track record in creating federal intermodal transportation solutions for moving people and goods efficiently, boosting productivity and job growth, and strengthening our nation's competitiveness in the global economy through the more efficient use of our transportation resources.
