SUMMARY
ASHRAE® new design guide was developed USACE’s Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL). Both the GSA Green Proving Grounds and U.S. Department of Energy’s High Impact Technology (HIT) Programs selected design methods and technology from the design guide. U.S. Navy implemented these best practices at Naval Support Activity (NSA) Orlando to pretreat the outside air using dehumidification prior to the cooling stage. This process is known as “outdoor air pretreatment device to decouple the latent and sensible loads”. We will review the Design Guide, discuss GSA GPG and DoE HIT Programs, and share technology implementation at NSA Orlando of innovation and best practices.
