What company do you work for and what is your job title?
Howdy! I am President of 3002 Surveying, an aspiring HUBZone Small Business located in Gainesville.
What have been your volunteer roles in the past and what is your role now for the Jacksonville Post?
I currently serve as the Communications Director for SAME JAX, where I help write the newsletters, manage the website, set up meetings and registrations, manage the membership database, and assist with helping the needs of other SAME JAX Committees
Are you on any National committees or served at Regional/National level and doing what?
Most of my efforts pour into SAME JAX, but I am also involved with the Membership COI, Geospatial Working Group & College Outreach COI
Where did you attend college? What did you study?
I obtained my Bachelors of Science in Environmental Management in Agriculture at the University of Florida, where took my first GIS course and fell in love with mapping. I eventually followed this up with a Masters in Urban Planning from U.F., where I specialized in Planning Information Systems. I then became an ASPRS Certified Photogrammetrist, and soon thereafter became a Florida Licensed Surveyor.
How long have you been a member of SAME and the Jacksonville Post?
I started attending SAME JAX Luncheons back in 2008, around the time when Capt. Mike Blount was the President of the SAME JAX Post.
What’s your favorite SAME memory?
One year I collaborated with SAME National and the company I worked for in order to integrate indoor mapping technology into the exhibition hall where we were able to display real-time population hotspots displayed on a map.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love spending time with my family, but I also love to connect with nature whether it be camping, sleeping in hammock tents, skateboarding, mountain biking, skiing, kayaking and surfing.
What is your favorite quote(s)?
"It's Called the American Dream Because You Have To Be Asleep to Believe It" – George Carlin.
